9 Ways to Increase Instagram Engagement

9 Ways to Increase Instagram Engagement

Ever since the algorithm hit, Instagram has been a struggle to get good engagement. No matter how amazing the content, no matter how many hours you put in, no matter how much you believe your post will go viral, there is usually a bit of a disappointment when it comes to Instagram engagement.

Here are 9 ways to boost your engagement and possibly get the love you deserve.

1. Show Some Love

Be a giver and not just a taker. When you get on Instagram, show some real love. Support, follow, like, shoutout in your InstaStories other content creators or similar pages in your industry. Try to take 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night to purely show support.
Also, reply back and like comments under your post. Don’t leave your followers hanging, this isn’t a one side conversation.

2. Tell A Story

Get on InstaStories and show us your morning routine, your workout, what you’re eating, the mess you need to clean up, your favorite quotes, your reposts and share, anything. ANYTHING! We need to see what is going on in your life and create interest.

People are interested and want to see what you are doing. You might think it’s boring but there are people that will find your life fascinating. Let’s see that face of yours at least once a week!

3. Leave Breadcrumbs

Don’t hide! Make sure your page is public and use hashtags on all your posts including your InstaStories. Add up to 30 hashtags under your posts with very relevant hashtag words that are in your industry to get followers from the same industry as yours.

Adding hashtags to your InstaStories will help increase your engagement dramatically in one post. Write out the hashtags and then shrink them down until you can’t see them. Many people follow specific hashtags so they will see your posts even if they don’t follow you.

4. I’ll Scratch Yours If You Scratch Mine

Find other similar accounts as yours and ask them if they would like to do a “shoutout for shoutout”. You will post them on your feed or Stories and ask your followers to follow and they will do the same for you. This is a great way to grab followers from a similar account. Many people are willing to do this as it is beneficial for both parties. Do this once a week and you will see your numbers grow.

5. Get Social

Liking and commenting on your feed’s posts is very beneficial but also step outside your follower list and comment on some other posts in your industry. Find a popular hashtag in your industry and go through that list, liking and commenting BUT make sure you are not spamming. Don’t just write random words, watch the video, look at the image and create 4 plus word sentence that goes along with the content. Ask a question maybe other want to know.

6. Gram Gang

Get a group of similar type accounts and create a group either in the DM’s or off on another platform, some say it’s recommended to create a group off Instagram. This way when one person from the group posts, everyone from the group can show some engagement which will help show your post to more than 5% of your following.

7. No Feature Left Behind

Use all the features that Instagram has to offer. Not all at once but make sure you use the new features that rollout such as Reels, Music in InstaStories, IGTV, swipe up feature. There is a rumor from a very credible source that says, Instagram shows your content to more of your followers when you use the features. Instagram wants you to use these features so everyone knows about them.

8. Let’s See Your Face

Have you seen those cool filters that everyone is using in InsaStories? Well did you know you can create one? Yes, you can. Why am I telling you this? Create a filter and use it a bunch, others will use it and it will spread like wildfire. There are many accounts that have been very popular from creating these fun filters. Don’t know how to create one? You can pay someone to create it for you.

9. The Meat

Your actual post should have a captivating caption where you could ask a question, share your knowledge on a topic, share a story or anything that will grab the attention of the scroller. Make sure your post is something that would make someone share it or click that save button so they can go back and read it. Stop them with a attention grabbing image or video, keep them with your words.

Don’t just use one video or image. You can fit up to 10 images in one post. Say like you get 15,000 likes on that post that is a carousal of multiple images and video into one post, Instagram doesn’t count that as one post to get 15K likes, it counts it as many images/videos you have for that post. So if you have one post with 3 images and it gets 20K likes, that means you actually have 3 posts with 20K likes. This makes the algorithm think you have many posts with good amount of engagement and they start showing your posts to more of your followers.

Get out there and get your engagement on!
