How to Create a Media Kit & Why You Need One

Hey Peaches!

This post is a continuation of my last post; How to Get on PR Lists (if you missed it scroll down a few posts)

If you want PR or brand deals, you need a Media Kit!

I honestly think this is a huge mistake influencers make when approaching brands.

What’s a Media Kit?

Glad you asked!

A media kit is a digital portfolio that showcases all your all your accomplishments within the industry, your social media stats, your social media links, brands you have worked with, a short bio about yourself and some images of your work.

Think of it as a resumé for your brand, blog, looks, your art.

You are not meeting these brands in person so you need to show your talent and personality through a short email. This is where the media kit comes in.

The media kit will be about 1 page some are a few pages (better to be short & sweet) that will be at the end of your email prompt.

A lot of brands don’t have the time to go through all of your social media pages, your blog, watch your YouTube videos; they need hard facts, fast!

No matter how many accomplishments you have, how many followers, always have your media kit. You will adjust your media kit as you grow.

Brands will also take you much more seriously when they see the effort and drive. Adding your media kit means that you are taking this job as a beauty influencer seriously and you want to represent the brand. You are selling yourself to these brands. You only have a small opportunity to catch their attention so make sure you are prepared.

Now that we know why we need a media kit, let’s figure out how to get one!

There are many ways to obtain a media kit; you can pay someone to make one or make it yourself.

If you want to pay someone because you need it quickly or maybe you’re not that tech savvy. You can find a variety of ways to get a media kit. Here are a few.

• Fiverr

• Etsy

• Upwork

• Search on Facebook for graphic designers

To make your own, you can use a variety of ways. The best part about making your own is that you can change it as often as you like. You will most likely change your stats and achievements monthly. If you have someone else create it, you will have to pay them (probably very small fee) to update it.

You can either create a media kit from scratch.

Blank canvas! Or you can get something called Media Kit templates.

The template will be all setup with colors, font, layout and links. All you have to do is fill it out.

You can find media kit templates on Creative Market, Etsy or Canva. They are very inexpensive and the ones on Canva are FREE.

If you want to start from scratch; have your own colors, font, layout, etc. you can create one for free on Canva or the app Bazaart.

Canva and Bazaart are two AMAZING apps/programs that will help tremendously when creating your own YouTube headers, Banners, blog posts, Pinterest pins, InstaStory posts & sooooo much more! I can go into more detail about both of the programs on another post.

Also, show me your media kit
